Advanced training course in traditional French canework restoration Course accessible only if you have completed the beginner's course. This 3-day advanced course aims to deepen and perfect the mastery of traditional French canework restoration techniques, by developing the precision of gestures, the regularity of the weaving and the quality of the finishes. - Objectives of the course: At the end of this course, participants will be able to: perfect their traditional canework technique at 6 threads; improve the regularity and tension of the weaving; identify and correct the main production errors; explore the techniques specific to the restoration of cane work; master the different stages of production and finishing; gain in precision, autonomy and quality of execution.- Course program: The course will begin with a reminder of the essential knowledge concerning the raw material: characteristics of the rattan cane, classification, different origins, selection criteria and supply. The participants will then work on an exercise chair frame, allowing them to put into practice and perfect the different stages of traditional cane: Assembly, Installation and interweaving of the horizontal strands and vertical, with particular attention paid to the regularity, alignment and tension of the cane. Filling, Carrying out diagonal weaving by crossing the strands, in order to obtain a regular and harmonious structure. Regularization and corrections Analysis of the weaving, identification of possible defects and learning of the techniques to correct irregularities and obtain a homogeneous result. Finishing, Installation of the finishing outline to hide the holes and ensure a clean and aesthetic finish of the canework. Particular attention will be paid to the restoration work, the quality of the gesture, the regularity of the weaving and the methods to obtain a professional finish. - Practical information: Internship supervisor: Mr. Michel Québatte, trainer from SwitzerlandDates: Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19 November 2026Location: face-to-face internship at Rotin Filé 53, rue du 1er Septembre 1944Duration: 3 days, or 21 hours of training (3 × 7 hours) Target audience: people who have already practiced during the beginner course and wish to perfect their practice and deepen restoration techniques. Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Equipment: Included in the course price is the 3-day training; the exercise frame; the rattan cane necessary for the exercises. Not included in the course price: The tools. (Participants can bring their own equipment). For those who wish, a complete tool pack is offered at the preferential rate of €35 instead of €39.10.
