Introductory course in rattan basketry - Making a crossed bottomDuring this introductory day, you will discover the basics of rattan basketry through making a crossed bottom, a particularly versatile traditional technique. This type of background can be used to create a tray or constitute the starting point for a basket. Guided throughout the day by Gisèle Jacquemin, you will learn to prepare the rattan, position the strands and master the precise gestures necessary to create a regular, solid and aesthetic background. No prior experience is necessary: this course is aimed at beginners as well as people wishing to deepen their discovery of artisanal basketry.
