One-day rattan basketry workshop - the horn of plenty
Get started with rattan basketry with the cornucopia! Discover the basics of rattan basketry during a one-day course led by Sylvie Bégot. Open to beginners and all the curious, this workshop will guide you step by step in making a cornucopia, learning the fundamental gestures and techniques of working with rattan. rattan using traditional weaving techniques (background, uprights, torches, borders). The cornucopia is an ancient symbol of prosperity, generosity and fertility. In basketry, it evokes the idea of containing and offering: fruits, flowers, bread, or decorative objects. In contemporary basketry, it is used: as a decorative object (placed or suspended), as a container for fruits, vegetables, dried flowers or seasonal arrangements, as a learning piece, ideal for discovering several basic rattan techniques on a single object.
