Description
Abaca is a variety of banana plant found mainly in Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia, the Philippines and the islands of Sumatra and Borneo. Also known as Manila hemp, abaca fibre is fine, light brown and rather shiny. It is similar to coir, jute or kubu fibre. Until now, abaca has been used mainly to make paper, rope, upholstery for car seats and textiles, but it is increasingly being used to make furniture. This braid is quite thin, measuring between 1 and 2 mm, and all spools have a different weight depending on the thickness of the braid, varying between 20 and 60g.
Longueur approximative entre 10 m et 15 m.
