Rattan is a creeping palm tree, it is an exotic plant . 

Rattan stems are long and thin spines provided with some vines can grow up to 250 meters long with a diameter not exceeding 60 mm. There are hundreds of rattan varieties which grow worldwide . 

You can find rattan in the rainforests of equatorial Africa , South America, Australia, India and South East Asia.
