Traditional french chair canework course with 6 threads - 3 days
This 3-day course will aim to master traditional French canework restoration techniques. This method has been used for chair seats since the mid-17th century. It consists of weaving strips of cane to make the seat or back of a seat. The usual technique is 6-thread French canework. It consists of weaving six strands of rattan bark (cane), forming regular octagons. The course will begin with explanations on the material, an update on the classification, origins and supply of this material.
